“Our warriors did not fight communism on battlefields across the word, only to have that menace rear its ugly head right back here in America. We’re not going to let it happen,” he said, a theme he has recently emphasized ahead of the November midterm elections. He also claimed his administration had “wiped out” Tehran’s military in recent campaigns against Iran and Venezuela.

The celebration on the Mall included attractions such as a Ferris wheel alongside displays by conservative organizations and defense contractors. Several Democratic-led states reportedly declined to send delegations to participate.
