Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the country's General Staff on Saturday rejected Russian claims that its forces had captured the strategically important eastern city of Kostiantynivka.
Russia’s military had informed President Vladimir Putin on Friday that its forces had taken control of the city, a key target in the Donetsk region. In a post on the social media platform X, Zelensky called the claim "another Russian lie, an attempt to generate some kind of a news story."
The General Staff also affirmed that Kostiantynivka remained under Ukrainian control, stating that military units were conducting defensive operations within the town and on its approaches.
