Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the expansion of the electric bus service to six more districts. The new routes will serve areas including Attock, Khushab, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and Khanewal.
Addressing the launch ceremony, the chief minister announced plans to expand the fleet to 5,000 electric buses across all districts and tehsils of the province. She stated that 1,500 more buses would be added during the current year, bringing the total to nearly 3,000. The service is planned to eventually reach all 147 tehsils.
The fare for the service is Rs20. The chief minister highlighted that the initiative provides an affordable, high-quality, and environmentally friendly mode of transport, and expressed satisfaction that many women were benefiting from it.
