Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with Afghanistan following a militant attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) facility in Karachi that resulted in the martyrdom of three personnel.

The Afghan Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs late on Saturday, where a formal demarche was delivered. According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, also conveyed an identical protest to Afghan authorities in Kabul.

The protest was issued after evidence confirmed the involvement of Afghan nationals in the assault, including one attacker who was captured alive. The Foreign Office stated the incident showed Afghan territory and citizens were being used for terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

The attack occurred on Saturday at a Rangers camp in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), militants first detonated explosives at the main entrance before attempting to force their way inside. Responding personnel killed three militants and arrested the injured suspect. Four Rangers personnel were also injured in the attack. The ISPR identified the attackers as being associated with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.
