The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted a final two-week adjournment for the defence to begin arguments in the appeals of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi against their conviction in the £190 million reference.

The court also dismissed contempt of court petitions filed by the couple, observing that the necessary powers of attorney had been signed. During the hearing on Monday, the bench, comprising Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfaraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif, warned that if the appellants fail to proceed with arguments after the adjournment, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor would be asked to present their case.

Barrister Salman Safdar, representing the appellants, stated that while the powers of attorney were now available, other documents were still awaited from jail authorities.

During the hearing of appeals in the £190 million case at the Islamabad High Court, the court reportedly expressed displeasure with the conduct of the PTI lawyers present.
