Karachi Port Trust Sets New Cargo Handling Record in 138-Year History

The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has set a new cargo handling record in its 138-year history, surpassing its previous record of 54.685 million tons.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, described the achievement as clear evidence of the maritime sector’s growth. He stated that reforms are ongoing to establish Pakistan as a strong maritime and commercial hub in the region, with accelerated measures for the development and expansion of ports along modern lines.

The minister added that improving investment, logistics, and the port system is a top government priority. He commended the dedication and professionalism of the KPT Chairman, officers, and employees.

KPT Chairman Admiral Shahid Ahmed noted a significant improvement in the port’s capacity, operational efficiency, and administrative capabilities. He affirmed that efforts to further enhance the competitive edge of Karachi Port will continue.
