Punjab Finalizes Security and Arrangements for Muharram
The Punjab government has finalized all necessary arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, with the peaceful conduct of processions and Majalis being its foremost priority. In a meeting in Faisalabad, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari confirmed that security and other facilities for mourners are in place.
Ms. Bokhari stated that a substantial police force has been deployed for the security of Majalis and processions. She added that officers of the Punjab Police and district administration are in continuous contact with organizers to ensure mourners receive all possible support, including the provision of cold drinking water and other essential facilities.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister Bilal Akbar, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, senior officials, and representatives of Majalis and procession organizers. The organizers reportedly expressed satisfaction with the government’s measures and thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the arrangements.
The Information Minister also praised the exemplary harmony among religious leaders of all schools of thought, noting its vital role in maintaining peace across the province.

In a related development, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider visited Chakwal to inspect the routes for Muharram processions in the district.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari reviewed Ashura arrangements during a tour of the Faisalabad Division. She visited Faisalabad City, Toba Tek Singh, Kamalia, and Pir Mahal to inspect the routes for processions and Majalis.
During her visit, the minister received a briefing on security matters at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Toba Tek Singh. In Kamalia, she visited an old Imambargah and spoke with female participants of a Majlis, who reportedly praised the government’s arrangements. Ms. Bokhari also inspected the quality of refreshments at a Sabeel set up by the district government.
