Former US President Donald Trump has stated that no frozen funds have been released to Iran. In a statement, he said the US would control the funds itself and use them to purchase agricultural products from American farmers to be sent to Iran.
“The money will be given to American farmers and in exchange for the funds, corn, wheat, and soybeans will be bought from American farmers and sent to Iran,” he said, adding that all items would be purchased only from the US due to what he described as a food shortage in Iran.
Trump also warned that if false information is provided during negotiations, the talks would be terminated immediately. He specifically mentioned that Iran is not collecting any tax from ships in the Strait of Hormuz. In separate remarks, Trump also claimed that Iran has “surrendered.”
