Mobile Services Suspended in Quetta, KP for Muharram Security
Authorities in Balochistan temporarily suspended mobile phone and internet services in Quetta on Wednesday as part of security arrangements for the 8th Muharram procession. Officials stated the suspension was a precautionary measure amid security concerns. The main procession in the city concluded peacefully under stringent security, with a heavy contingent of police and Frontier Corps personnel deployed along the routes. Services are expected to be restored after security clearance.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has also finalised its security strategy for Ashura. According to officials, mobile phone services will be suspended in selected sensitive areas, with partial restrictions in other vulnerable locations during the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Authorities have classified 400 Imambargahs and 476 processions across the province as sensitive or highly sensitive to ensure the safe conduct of religious observances.
