Six suspected terrorists were killed on Wednesday during a joint operation by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Lower Dir police in the district’s hilly areas.

A CTD statement said the slain individuals were “most-wanted terrorists” involved in a recent attack on the Badwan Bridge checkpost in Lower Dir, in which Constable Mohammad Ismail was martyred. Following that attack, security forces had cordoned off the area.

According to the statement, law enforcers received information about the terrorists’ presence and tried to arrest them. The suspects opened fire on the police parties, leading to a prolonged exchange. The six bodies were later found in a search operation.

Six Kalashnikovs, three hand grenades, and multiple cartridges were recovered from their possession. A search operation is reportedly ongoing to arrest their accomplices who fled.

KP Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed commended the forces and affirmed that operations will continue. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the CTD and police for the successful operation.
