In a meeting in Islamabad, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, agreed to extend cooperation in multiple sectors, including security, anti-terrorism, cybersecurity, and immigration.

Mr. Momeni was part of a delegation led by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The visit followed the signing of an ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ between the US and Iran after talks held in Switzerland. Both ministers expressed satisfaction at the de-escalation in the region.

According to the interior ministry, Mr. Naqvi congratulated the Iranian minister on the joint statement issued after the US-Iran talks and said Pakistan would continue its efforts for lasting peace in the Middle East. Mr. Momeni appreciated Pakistan’s role in the dialogue and stated he would conduct a detailed visit to Pakistan soon to enhance cooperation between the two interior ministries.
