PTI Rejects Finance Bill, Calls Budget ‘Anti-People’
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday rejected the Finance Bill 2026-27, moments after it was passed by the National Assembly. The opposition party described the budget as “anti-people” and accused the government of masking poor economic conditions with claims of stability.
Following a joint parliamentary panel meeting, the PTI stated that inflation, unemployment, and the cost of living continue to rise. The meeting was co-chaired by Opposition Leader Mehmood Achakzai and acting party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
The party also adopted a resolution condemning National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq for what it termed as partisan conduct during the budget session. PTI alleged that the opposition was being systematically sidelined in parliamentary speaking opportunities and media coverage.
During the meeting, the party reiterated its demands for the release of former prime minister Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and other detained party workers.
