The United States Treasury Department has issued a general license for Iran, permitting the production, transport, and sale of Iranian crude oil and petrochemical products until August 21, 2026. The license also allows for the import of these products into the United States, though it prohibits their transfer to North Korea, Cuba, and Ukraine.

Following the agreement, shipping activity has reportedly increased in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the International Maritime Information Center, two large oil tankers have already crossed the strait to enter Gulf waters, where they are expected to load a combined four million barrels of oil. Another two vessels carrying two million barrels of oil have also completed their passage through the strategic waterway.
