The commander of Iran’s Quds Force, Esmail Qaani, has issued a direct warning to Israel, demanding an immediate withdrawal from southern Lebanon. In a statement, Qaani threatened that if Israel does not cease its ‘aggression and occupation,’ it will face a fate similar to its unconditional withdrawal in 2000.

He stated that if Israeli forces do not leave voluntarily, the ‘history of 2000 will be repeated’ when they ‘fled from this land in disgrace.’ The warning references the end of Israel’s 22-year presence in southern Lebanon, an event commemorated in Lebanon as Liberation Day.
