Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has warned the United States against making threats, asserting that the Islamic republic’s armed forces are “ready to respond.” The statement followed a threat by US President Donald Trump to strike Iran over its support for Hezbollah.

Ghalibaf dismissed the American statements as a sign of “desperation” and said they would not be taken into account. “They would do better to be careful with their statements; our armed forces are ready to respond to them in a different manner,” he stated.
