UK Issues Amber Heat-Health Alert for England as Temperatures Soar

LONDON: The UK Health Security Agency has issued an Amber heat-health alert for large parts of England as temperatures are forecast to rise significantly.

The alert, which signifies potential for increased pressure on health and social services, is in effect until 8 PM on Tuesday for London, the South East, South West, and the East of England. A lower-level Yellow warning has been issued for the West and East Midlands for the same duration.

Health officials have warned that the heat can pose a danger to vulnerable populations, including the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Temperatures in London are predicted to reach 30°C on Monday and climb to 32°C on Tuesday.
