British-Pakistani Falak Raja Named UK Youth Ambassador to Commonwealth

LONDON: Falak Raja, a 20-year-old of Pakistani-Kashmiri origin from Nelson, has been selected as a UK Youth Ambassador to the Commonwealth.

Raja is one of four young ambassadors appointed to the newly formed executive board of the Youth Council UK. She will be part of a 19-member group of young leaders, aged 16 to 25, who will represent a vast network of over 200 youth organizations across the UK and its territories, reaching approximately 7.8 million young people.

In her new role, Raja will represent the issues and rights of young people on an international stage. Reacting to her selection, she expressed immense pride and humility, stating that her life’s goal has always been to promote social justice and bring positive change through education. “I promise all young people in the UK and abroad that I will represent them fully and work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of young people are not only heard but also become the catalyst for the positive change we all deserve,” she said.

The executive board will serve a two-year term. Raja’s appointment is being celebrated as a significant achievement and a source of pride for the British Pakistani and Kashmiri communities.
