AJK Announces New Election Schedule, Polling on July 27
The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has issued a new schedule for the general elections of the Legislative Assembly, setting the polling date for July 27.
According to the notification, the deadline for submitting nomination papers has been extended to June 23, following requests from candidates. The scrutiny of the papers will take place on June 24.
The schedule allows for appeals against the decisions of returning officers to be filed between June 25 and 28, with the Election Commission set to hear them on June 29 and 30. The final date for withdrawal of nomination papers is July 3.
Electoral symbols will be allotted on July 5, and the final list of candidates will be published the same day. An Election Commission spokesperson stated that the schedule was amended to facilitate the public and accommodate suggestions from potential candidates.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has issued its final list of candidates for the upcoming Azad Jammu and Kashmir general elections. Party President Nawaz Sharif approved the list, granting party tickets to candidates in 37 constituencies across regions including Mirpur, Bhimber, Kotli, Bagh, Poonch, and Muzaffarabad. The formal notification was issued from Islamabad following recommendations from the party’s parliamentary board.
