FIA Arrests Man for Selling Citizens’ Sensitive Data to Foreign Agencies
KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a member of an organized digital network accused of selling sensitive information of Pakistani citizens to foreign intelligence agencies.
According to the FIA’s Counter-Terrorism Wing in Karachi, the network, which includes both local and foreign individuals, was involved in selling data from NADRA, Passport and Immigration, and mobile phone users. The group also allegedly engaged in digital financial fraud against Pakistani citizens.
Officials stated that the suspects used various social media platforms to communicate with foreign intelligence agencies and received payments through cryptocurrency and digital wallets. The FIA was able to trace these digital wallets, leading to the arrest of one suspect.
A case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched. The FIA is now working to apprehend the remaining members of the network.
