NEPRA Approves Rs 1.19 Per Unit Electricity Price Hike Nationwide
ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in the price of electricity by Rs 1.19 per unit for consumers across the country, including those served by K-Electric.
According to a notification issued by the authority, the hike has been made under the fuel price adjustment for the month of April.
The increased tariff will be reflected in the electricity bills for the month of June.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had initially requested a higher increase of Rs 1.73 per unit for the April adjustment, but the regulatory authority approved the lower rate.

Despite a previously approved fuel cost adjustment, power consumers will see a net reduction in their electricity bills for the next three months. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a concurrent quarterly tariff adjustment that outweighs the fuel price hike.
For June, a Rs 1.19 per unit increase under the fuel cost adjustment for April will be offset by a Rs 1.99 per unit reduction from the quarterly adjustment for January-March, resulting in a net relief of approximately 80 paisa per unit. The Rs 1.99 per unit reduction will continue for July and August. The combined adjustments are expected to provide a total financial relief of around Rs 56 billion to consumers over the three-month period. These changes will apply to all consumer categories except for lifeline, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, and pre-paid users.
