Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai has petitioned the Balochistan High Court against an FIR registered over a recent speech in Chaman, terming the country’s issues ‘political in nature’. Speaking to the media, the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chairman said the establishment of a true democratic society is essential for national progress.

Achakzai stated that interference in the electoral process had weakened democratic institutions and that those advocating for constitutional supremacy are often criticized. He called for a genuinely elected parliament to make independent national decisions. Regarding the case against him, he argued the FIR was not in accordance with constitutional requirements and should be declared null and void.
