Chinese Ambassador Meets Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

A seminar was held in Karachi to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, bringing together diplomats, academics, and business leaders. Organized by the Chinese Consulate General, the event celebrated the ‘all-weather strategic cooperative partnership’ that has evolved between the two nations.

Speaking at the event, Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong described the relationship as a model of strategic trust and mutual benefit, highlighting its expansion into trade, investment, culture, and education. He noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has now entered a new stage of high-quality development, reinforcing the deep economic integration between the two countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, stressed the need for immediate follow-up on agreements made during his recent visit to China. The premier called for necessary actions to implement the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed at the third Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference.

Discussions focused on expanding cooperation under CPEC 2.0, particularly in agriculture, IT, industries, special economic zones, and mines and minerals. The meeting also addressed fast-tracking the Karakoram Highway realignment project and strengthening collaboration in security, counter-terrorism, and defence.
