Israel–Lebanon War Intensification and Hezbollah Missile Attacks

Ongoing Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon have killed at least seven people, including an aid worker, and left dozens injured. According to Lebanese civil defense, two separate Israeli drone strikes in the Al-Housh area of the Tyre district resulted in six fatalities.

In a separate drone attack in the Arab Salim area, a paramedic affiliated with the Al-Risala Ambulance Association was also killed. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health reported that Israeli attacks in the Bint Jbeil region over the past 24 hours killed five people and wounded 48, among them a doctor and several medical staff members at Tabnin Hospital. Airstrikes also targeted the towns of Siddiqin, Arzoun, and Deir Qanun Ras al-Ain.

Israel continued its strikes on southern Lebanon on Tuesday, a day after the US urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid a wider escalation by attacking Beirut. Following the intervention, an understanding was announced in which Israel would refrain from striking Beirut’s southern suburbs in exchange for Hezbollah halting attacks on Israel. However, the war in the south continues, with Israeli strikes hitting several towns and the military ordering an evacuation of the city of Nabatiyeh.

Despite the fragile agreement, tensions remain high, with an Israeli drone heard over Beirut. Israel’s Defense Minister warned that if attacks on Israeli communities resume, the military would strike Beirut’s southern suburbs. Meanwhile, Lebanon is pursuing broader ceasefire talks in Washington, and Iran has demanded a ceasefire in Lebanon as part of any wider deal with the United States.
