Security Forces Kill 17 Terrorists in Balochistan Operations, ISPR Says
RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 17 terrorists belonging to an Indian-sponsored group during a series of intelligence-based operations in several districts of Balochistan, the military’s media wing announced Tuesday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated the operations in Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar, and Kech were conducted in response to the May 24 train bombing in Quetta that killed more than 30 people.
According to the statement, troops engaged multiple terrorist locations, and following ‘intense and fierce exchanges of fire,’ 17 terrorists were killed, dealing a ‘significant blow to the terrorist networks operating in these areas.’
A large cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and prepared Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) was also recovered from the slain terrorists, who were said to be actively involved in numerous previous attacks.
The ISPR affirmed that sanitisation operations are ongoing and that the nationwide counter-terrorism campaign, ‘Azm-e-Istehkam,’ will continue at full pace ‘to wipe out the menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.’

The 17 slain terrorists belonged to a group designated by the state as ‘Fitna al Hindustan’ to highlight India’s alleged role in regional destabilisation. The intelligence-based operations were conducted under the ‘Azm e Istehkam’ vision, a national counter-terrorism campaign approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
Security forces have stated that sanitisation operations are continuing to eliminate remaining threats from the area. The May 24 attack on a shuttle train in Quetta, which prompted the recent operations, was a suicide car bombing that killed at least 14 people and injured 20 others.
