Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has stated that PML-N President Nawaz Sharif visited Gilgit-Baltistan after obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the region’s Election Commission. He clarified that no government minister has gone to Gilgit-Baltistan to run an election campaign.

Speaking on a television program, Sanaullah noted that PTI Chairman Gohar Khan is also holding rallies and meetings in the region without obstruction. He further claimed that PTI has no candidate competing in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections and affirmed that the polls will be conducted in a clean, transparent, and credible manner.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has asserted that no political party can match the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) record of development in Gilgit-Baltistan. Speaking in Gilgit, Iqbal stated that all parties are participating in the electoral process.

He further suggested that any party claiming it is being prevented from taking part is merely searching for an excuse for its anticipated defeat.

Addressing an election rally in Gilgit, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif lamented the poor state of infrastructure and stalled development projects in the region, questioning why the Mansehra-Gilgit road and the Diamer-Bhasha Dam remain incomplete. He asserted that his party seeks votes based on its past performance, citing the completion of the Lowari Tunnel and various power and health projects during its tenure.

Sharif pledged that a future PML-N government would ensure the completion of major projects, establish a women’s university, and provide interest-free loans for youth and housing for residents. He promised to personally oversee development in Gilgit-Baltistan if his party is elected.
