The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has decided to link its support for the federal budget to the reinstatement of Kamran Tessori as the Governor of Sindh, with senior leader Farooq Sattar declaring the demand a ‘red line’ for the party. The consensus was reportedly reached during a meeting of the party’s MNAs and MPAs.

Sattar urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to reappoint Tessori, who served from October 2022 to March 2026, praising his performance and welfare initiatives. He argued that having an MQM-P-backed governor is crucial for maintaining a check and balance on the Sindh government. While another senior party figure noted the matter has not yet been formally discussed at the highest party level, they indicated MQM-P would not object if the federal government chose to re-nominate Tessori.
