Punjab Chief Minister has launched a major plan to rebuild roads as part of new infrastructure and construction projects. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari confirmed the initiative during a public address.

Under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the ‘CM Local Roads’ programme is rapidly advancing, with over 30,000 kilometres of roads already constructed or repaired across Punjab. The government has also approved new transport infrastructure projects, including mass transit systems for Faisalabad and Gujranwala, and has made solar street lights mandatory for all new roads.

In a new initiative to address public grievances, the provincial government has begun holding open courts (‘khuli kacheris’). The first such session in Lahore is scheduled to take place at Town Hall, where the Chairperson of the Complaint Cell and heads of eight government departments will hear public complaints directly.

In a related development, the chief minister has declared compliance with lane and line discipline mandatory in Lahore and other major cities. The provincial government has also approved separate multi-billion-rupee transport infrastructure and bus stop projects for Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
